Carla Vaglio Marengo est professeur de langue et littérature anglaises à la Faculté des Lettres, Université de Turin. Elle est membre de l’International James Joyce Foundation. Elle a participé à de nombreux symposiums, séminaires et colloques sur James Joyce, organisés par la fondation Cini, l’Université de la Sorbonne, la fondation de Zurich, l’Université de Philadelphie, l’Université Lumière de Lyon 2, l’Université de Rome 3, etc. Elle a participé à la création de la Fondation James Joyce italienne en 2007. Elle a donné des conférences à l’Université de Princeton (2005). Elle a communiqué aux symposiums de Budapest (2006), de Tours (2008) et au colloque Joyce et l’Italie à Saint-Gérand-le-Puy (juin 2008). Elle contribue à de nombreux ouvrages collectifs sur Joyce, traduits en anglais et français. Elle est éditeur aux James Joyce Studies in Italy et au Journal of Modern Literature.

Since 1984, Full Professor of English Literature at the Faculty of Letters, University of Turin. She has published extensively on a wide range of authors and topics such as Frederick Rolfe, Thomas Wyatt, gothic fiction and Poe, Shakespeare and Middleton, Stevenson, Irish Literature (Yeats and Joyce) and especially on Joyce, her Joycean topics including geography and cartography, Futurism, interior monologue, linguistics, the magic lantern and cinema. Her work also includes contributions on Homer, Dante, Blake, Shelley, d'Annunzio, Vico and Bruno.

In 1981 elected to the Board of the International James Joyce Foundation (the first Italian member). She organized the 11th Joycian Symposium, 1988, at the Fondazione Cini in Venice, and has regularly attended the Joycian Symposia, the Colloques at Paris III, conferences at Philadelphia, Lyon (Université Lumière),Turin, Bologna-Forlì, Roma3 (where she was the co-founder of the James Joyce Italian Foundation), publishing both in English and in French.

In 1987 she organized the VIII AIA Conference (Associazione Italiana di Anglistica) at the University of Turin, and subsequently edited the proceedings.

Invited speaker, Conference on "NOISE": "Noisetuning :Joyce and Futurism" (Harvard University, September 2005). Visiting Professor, Princeton University (October 2005), lecture titles: "Joyce and Futurism"; "Joyce: from Peepshow to Palace"; "Charting the Immarginable: Joyce and Cartography in Finnegans Wake".

She also gave papers at the Budapest Symposium (June 2006), at the Tours Symposium (June 2008), delivered the opening plenary at the Conference "Joyce et l'Italie" (St.Gérand-le-Puy, June 2008) and at the Trieste Film Festival "Joyce between Variety Futurist Synthetic Theatre and Cinema" (January 2009).

Member of the editorial Board of the Journal of Modern Literature (since 1986) and of the James Joyce Studies (since 1999).
